Living Water - Kira Gunn's WAAPA Graduation RecitalLive Music / Composer

Come to the Rechabite main hall on June 26th for an immersive musicial journey in Kira Gunn's WAAPA graduation performance, Living Water.

Kira is thrilled to share music that has only been made possible through her time at WAAPA, and will be drawing on collaborative experiences accross genres and disciplines. This show depicts a journey of faith, moving through various trials to reach the great River of Life. The night will primarily showcase original works, woven together to form a cohesive narrative, and complimented by a solo harp transcription of Bedrich Smetana's masterpiece Ma Vlast: Vltava, and an arrangement of Nitin Sawhney's Breathing Light. Kira will be joined on stage by some incredible fellow WAAPA students and alumni to bring this music to life, including renowned ney and daf player, Esfandiar Shahmir. The night will begin featuring a set by the amazing multi-instrumentalist/composer Jane Stark. This is not a night to be missed!

Kira first began playing the harp at age 10, and discovered a love for writing music in her late teens. Throughout her time at WAAPA, she has performed alongside music students from classical, contemporary, music artist, jazz and composition streams, and has been involved in writing and performing music for acting productions. She has also worked professionally for orchestras around Perth, including the WA Symphony Orchestra, Perth Symphony Orchestra and the WA Philharmonic Orchestra. Kira has been writing folk songs for several years, and has hosted many intimate concerts at her home to showcase Perth's folk music talent.

Jane Stark is a percussionist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer and more, based in Boorloo, Whadjuk Noongar land (Perth, Western Australia).

Minors can attend with a parent or legal guardian and must exit the premiss by 10pm.
