Like a lot of queer slang, the noun "kiki" (pronounced kee-kee) originated in the drag queen community - specifically queens of colour!

A kiki is a type of queer gathering and celebration, considered a type of stress release and relaxation, where queer people can freely be themselves, without needing to repress aspects of their identity for safety. Kikis are associated with gossip, friendly gatherings, and highly performative dress.
