PJS is proud to present a Double Bill: Incredible trombonist Catherine Noblet & Latin Jazz Trio "3-@migos".
After a 10 year hiatus from fronting ensembles, Perth trombonist Catherine Noblet returns to the Perth Jazz Society to perform a set of original compositions with her new quartet, featuring Austin Salisbury (piano), Alistair Peel (bass) and Pete Evans (drums). A WAAPA graduate, Catherine has been a regular member of a number of local bands (including the Mace Francis Orchestra) as well as performing and recording her own music. In 2007, a gig with legendary trombonist Jim Pugh led to the opportunity to undertake a Masters in Jazz Studies at the University of Illinois, receiving a fellowship and teaching assistant position. This new group showcases her experience, musicality and versatility as both a trombonist and as leader of seasoned musicians.
Formed in late 2020, 3-@migos is an explosive Latin Jazz Trio that blurs the line between Jazz, Latin Jazz, World Music, South American Traditional Music (Cuban, Venezuelan, Brazilian) Pop Music and even Classical Music. Expect to listen a wide range of world rhythms, cutting edge Latin Beats, raging montunos and your favourite Jazz Standards with a Latin twist. With influences from John Benitez Trio to Seis del Solar; from The Great American Songbook to The Great Latin Book; from Wayne Shorter to Freddie Hubbard; from Edward Simon to Aaron Parks... This Powerhouse Latin-Jazz ensemble guarantees an innovative and entertaining musical experience!!
