ABOUT THE ARTISTS 

BAD WHIP

Bad Whip is the improvisational dance music duo of Alex Reid (drums) and Josiah Padmanabhan(synths) of prominent Perth outfit Grievous Bodily Calm. The partner setting allows the duo to explore pure improvisation and reactivity within a drum machine techno driven universe. Bad Whip acts as a means to create spontaneous composition and to test the boundaries of their musical connection formed over the last five years of intense writing, recording and performing together. Bad Whip have played festivals such as the Wave Rock Weekender and RTRFM’s Radiothon as well as numerous residency’s around town. The future will see Bad Whip recording their debut effort and further experimentation in the interface between produced and live music.


DJ TASH THOMAS

Perth/Boorloo-born and based Tash Thomas has quickly become one of the City’s go-to selectors and tastemakers for 21st century jazz and jazz-informed sounds.An avid lover of all music and styles, Tashdiscovered a deep love for contemporary jazz sounds while living in London, where she worked as a jazz publicist for emerging and established artists & festivals across the UK and Europe. She has worked with the likes of Shabaka Hutchings, Nubya Garcia, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Jacob Collier, the Cheltenham Jazz Festival (UK) and North Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands). Since moving back to Perth/Boorloo in 2020, she graduated from the Club Jewelz DJ community workshops and has brought her eclectic taste of sounds and styles, from the esoteric, progressive and euphoric, to venues such as The Bird and Astral Weeks.Tash is also a regular presenter on RTRFM’s Giant Steps programme.
